Lead Pastors: Rev. Curt & Liz Marek
Pastor’s Curt & Liz have a combined 22 years in the ministry. Curt known to most as “REV” was born in a northern suburb of Chicago Ill. Growing up moving around a lot a from Chicago, to Central Florida, and finally to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Rev was raised primarily in the Assembly of God Denomination giving his life to the Lord around a camp fire at a Royal Ranger Pow Wow at the mere age of 5, where is own father led him to Christ. Rev’s ministry career began young preaching his fist sermon at age 12 and working as a youth counselor most of his teenage life at one camp or another. After high school Rev attended Kentucky State University as Music Major, following school he proceeded to follow his parents to Washington NC where he began his first of many Youth Pastor positions. While working for Washington Assembly of God Rev started working through Burean Bible College with a major in Religious Theology and Christian Education. During his time with Washington AG Rev started Divine Animation Ministries a youth evangelism program to minister in schools and other church throughout the region.
After leaving Washington AG Rev was blessed with an opportunity to work for the Nike Corporation traveling the world setting up an inventory network in the mid 90’s, mean while he was still working Divine Animation Ministries preaching, Nike enabling him to minister in over thirty states, twenty three countries, on six continents in an five years span. In early 1999 Rev moved on from the cooperate world and decided to go back full time in the ministry after preaching a PK “Preachers Kid’ retreat in central Alabama for the Church of God Denomination. He heard a strong word from the Lord, pack up his ministry and went on a 9 month evangelistic tour of the Bible Belt, preaching in over seventy churches during this time. After turning down a promising position in Sylacauga Church of God as a Worship/Youth Pastor, he followed the leading of the Lord to Austin TX. It was here in late 1999 where he met his future wife Liz Doss. Liz was born in Texas City TX and was rasied for most of her life right here on Lake Travis. An LT grad Liz embarked on a career as a flight attendant right out of school working for Continental Airlines. She also was raised in the Assembly of God Denomination.
Liz had Michael Doss in 1991, (attending Shoreline Christian Center for over 10 year),where in late 1999 Rev was ministering with Pastor Bob Bridden in Super Church. Michael and Rev met in childrens church, but there was no connection to Liz yet. It was a destined meeting at a Shoreline small group that would bring this couple together. There initial meeting, where Liz hearing the Lord prick her spirit and directed her eyes to the door to address the future husband he was bringing her, Liz then promptly said to the Lord “He’s twelve” and hurried herself out of that meeting. They meet once more at the next small group meeting where she was once again greeted with Rev’s hand as she entered the room and they never let go. Four months later they were married. Married by Dr. John Chasteen at Family Faith Center of Pflugerville TX, where Curt became youth pastor. Four months after that they moved on assignment to Pendleton Oregon working as Worship/Youth Pastor’s at Pendelton Faith Center a Four Square Church.
After two years in Oregon, Curt and Liz moved back to Austin to start a church plant first in the Hudson Bend Apache Shores area in Travis County working with Grace Bible Ministries the IPHC Texas Conference. In 2007 they moved over the boarder into Burnet County in the ever growing Spicewood community, which is the present Spicewood Family Church. In January of 2009 they purchased the HWY 71 Church of Christ building on HWY 71 and are now looking to build a new 200 seat building and remodling the old building for Childrens Church.
During these nine incredible years of marriage Liz and Curt have been blessed with the opportunity of having an adopting six more children. Michael Hirschler 21 adopted at 15 is the oldest livng in north east Texas. Michael Doss is 20 working at LTISD and looking forward to next semester at ACC. Noah Luke Marek 3 the Liz and Curt O’natural, the three amigos Michael Angel Marek 11, Sophia Nickolett Marek 8, and Gabriela Grace Marek 6 adopted in 2008, and new to the family this year is Jessika Celestine Slatcher 9. Bringing the tribe to 7 plus Buzz 85, Zoey 14 , and Zebbadia 11 (in dog years) the family dogs complete the Marek household.
